Hi again! Have you seen the new Ferrari F138 yet?
Stunning isn’t it? Let’s just hope it’s fast and suited to both Massa and Alonso’s driving styles. Massa gets first crack at it in Jerez so hopefully he and Rob Smedley can work towards a baseline Filipe can lean on and get some good performances out of.
We live in hope! Anyway, go have a look it’s a very pretty car!

OK, so if you’ve ever wanted to see behind the curtain and see what those lectures at MIT, Harvard and so on are about, I’m with you.
Enter Academic Earth. I know, I know it’s been around for ages but I’m getting in to it right now. I’ve been looking at some of the courses to do with electronics and object oriented programming. Yes, I’m a nerd. This is not new information!! 🙂
Next up, I’ve finally got round to reading Clear and Present Danger. The movie was awesome, the book’s even better! Clancy you dog! You did it to me with The Hunt for Red October and now you’ve done it again with this one! Leave the story alone and just film that Hollywood, your writers aren’t as good as Tom.
I’m also drinking more water but in the current weather, it’ll turn to ice next time I venture out. I’m going on the record here, I’m not a fan of snow or falling over for that matter but strangely I’d rather be cold than hot.
Finally, I’d like to remind you about Earthcam the single most interesting people watching site EVER! I’ve told you about it before on here but it’s another thing I’m back in to right now.
End of brain dump… 😀

150 posts since 2008? That’s not really a lot is it?
1750 days have passed since my first post on here in April 2008. On average, I must have posted every 11-12 days to get to that number. Pittiful! 🙂
Now the Chrismas and New Year craziness is over, I might actually get to put something up here for you to read… Maybe!
Until then, I’ll see you soon!

I had a wonderful evening on Saturday that culminated in me meeting the woman who wrote and performed one of my favourite songs growing up.
Beverley Craven’s “Holding On” from her album Beverley Craven haunted me when I was a young lad, still at school. That song along with others of hers have been old friends as I’ve made my way reluctantly into adult life.
Having an opportunity to see Beverley on tour wasn’t really anything I thought I’d be able to do growing up so I was delighted to discover she was playing at the Tithe Barn in Bishop’s Cleave! This was Beverley Craven, the Beverley Craven who’s performed all over the world coming to a venue near me.
Beverley was excellent. Her voice is just as strong as her recordings remember her and her anecdotes between songs were heartfelt and very humble. Beverley was making it clear that although a muti platinum selling artist, she is still a person and very proud Mum of three.
The absolute highlight of the night for me (aside from hearing the woman herself sing) was having an opportunity to speak to her and have her sign a copy of her début CD for me. She was also kind enough to pose for a photo with the star-struck crazy guy you can see in the picture above.
In short, thanks Bev, you were magnificent and I’ll never forget the day I got to meet you. x

I’ve been using the Windows 8 preview for a couple of months now on a laptop that I’ve tried to use pretty much all the time, at home anyway.
I have yet to be utterly convinced about the absence of the Start button and its accompanying menu but the (artist formally known as Metro) interface is usable. I’ve not had much need to use many “Windows 8 Interface” apps as yet so I’ll reserve judgement on that. The ones I have seen look a bit noddy but are functional, rather reminiscent of iPhone apps but I guess that’s the point. If so, well done Microsoft, you’ve cracked it.
As I’ve stated before I am an unashamed Microsoft fan boy and I’m pleased as punch that Microsoft seem to have hit the right note for a domestic user with this iteration of Windows.
Microsoft has had the inverse of the Star Trek curse for many years (in their case the even numbered ones are usually considered crap) and from a business use point of view that could be the case here. I bet I could find people who are still shocked about the Start menu showing up let alone being replaced in some businesses. I’d be a little surprised if Windows 8 is adopted any more widely than on business tablet PCs to be honest. We’ll see though, the potential is incredible for a unified user interface across phone, tablet, laptop and desktop implementations.
What I can tell you is that I plan to adopt Windows 8 on every single thing I own that can run it when it’s released. How’s that?
