New Team Order

OK, so I think its no secret that my old Ferrari/Honda allegiance has transferred to a Brawn/Ferrari one now. The B team have become my main one more from an old love of Brawn’s skill, Barrichello’s nuts driving and the rise of Button than from any patriotism towards a British team (although that is of course a bonus).

With that in mind I started my traditional hunt for the obligatory supporters merchandise. Its at this point that you realise just how new the team is!! Three coats (all about £100) and a cap are all you can buy right now. The web site at www.BrawnGP.com is a little basic (not as basic as this one!) but does the job well and centralises stuff like the team’s YouTube presence, merchandising and so on; so I assume we won’t be waiting too long for more stuff to go on there and become available.

Needless to say, my cap’s in the post! 😉

Melbourne 2009

Well, I said it was going to be a good season! 🙂

I can’t fault the Brawn team for the wonderful performance they managed to put in today. Yeah sure, there are some teething troubles and the operation isn’t as slick as it might be in the races to come but you just can’t knock the speed those cars were carrying.

My only concerns now are the provisional win awarded to Button (which could get taken away at the the rear diffuser row’s appeal hearing on April 14th) and whether the Brawn GP team will be capable of sustaining performances like that week in week out.
Button has already pointed out that the car is notoriously difficult to change the setup on. He gave an example of a change that should take 10 minutes taking over an hour. This could boil down to the team having one shot at getting the setup right or losing out competitively for the whole weekend.

Ferrari once again had an attack of the curse of Melbourne. One day they’ll get both cars to finish and we’ll all be able to watch the heavens topple!

Great drives by everyone. If this is what F1 looks like this season, fetch me a beer, I’m going to be watching this for some time….

Brawn GP Test Results

I think I’m not alone in being totally gobsmacked with the results of the last two tests, watching Brawn GP go from strength to strength. What a car!

I’m putting it in writing so people can see I thought this before Melbourne; I believe the Brawn GP team have a shot at winning the first race they ever enter. If not a win, definitely a podium finish.
There, said it.

Two brilliant drivers, a good car and a McLaren that seems to have serious aero problems. When a car that just bolted in the engine (Hondas had Honda engines remember, so all the design would’ve been around them) can beat you. You’re in trouble.
I wish Hamilton luck but I  don’t fancy his chances in the first part of this season.

Brawn and Ferrari, my teams for the season…

Brawn GP Team

Congratulations to Ross Brawn on his successful acquisition of the formerly Honda team. I can’t say how absolutely brilliant I think its going to be.

In my case, you just have to look at the ingredients and anyone who knows me can tell how hooked I’m going to be on this new team. Ross Brawn at the top (absolutely exceptional strategist), Jenson Button who lets face it, just needs a good car and he’ll win more races and Rubens Barrichello, the legend himself.

What more can I type here? GOOD LUCK GUYS! 😀
